A Grand Send Off for the Class of 2016

The Mayfield Junior School community celebrated the graduation of the Class of 2016 on June 3. In his remarks, Headmaster Joe Gill spoke about virtue and suggested the graduates establish their own set of key virtues to help guide them through the decisions and challenges of life. With humor and warmth Matthew Evans ’07, Charlie Evans ’12 and David Evans ’14 officially welcomed the class into the Alumni Association as their youngest brother Peter ’16 stood among them. Each spoke about the importance of friends and family and expressed their gratitude for the support system Mayfield provides. Parent Ruth Coyne in her graduation address offered the graduates a brief glimpse of the future and some advice, curated from her fellow Class of 2016 parents, that encouraged persistence, kindness and taking the time now to think about what they want out of life and start setting the course to do it.

The eighth grade year is full of leadership opportunities, extended responsibilities and meaningful experiences. We are very proud of all the Class of 2016 accomplished in their final year at MJS and look forward to their success.
