Dear Mayfield Junior School Alumni,
Remember Blue & White Day? The crazy games, Tugs of war…cheering for your team…. I recently experienced my first Blue & White Day on Friday, May 28 and it was a blast!
I am so honored and happy to introduce myself as the new Assistant Director of Development for Alumni Relations, your direct connection to all things “alumni” here at Mayfield Junior School! Great efforts have been made by your alma mater to expand our Alumni Relations program, and I invite you to join me as we continue to re-connect alumni to the school and to each other and grow our alumni program. As a graduate of Mayfield Senior School, and a former Director of Alumnae there, I can tell you that Cornelia Connelly’s most notable of mottos “Actions not Words” still rings true in my heart and mind to this day. Words are one thing, but our actions define us as people, not only to others, but to ourselves as well.
While a student at Mayfield Junior School, you received the precious gifts of lasting friendships and an excellent educational experience, things you surely value in your lives today. We take such mottos and values with us well beyond the graduation stage, even though we may not think so at the time.
Think for a moment what gifts you received from your education here at Mayfield Junior School? If you would like, send your thoughts to me in an email and we will share them in one of our next issues. This is important – as the spirit of Mayfield memories you knew so well and so long ago, like Blue and White Day, has never been more alive than today. How can this be, you ask? Make a visit back to school and see for yourself! You’ll be glad you did.
Regards,
Mary Hatton
