We recognize that our tuition cost is a significant investment however it is our sincere hope that a family’s ability to pay full tuition is not the determining factor in their decision to apply to or attend Mayfield. We are committed to growing our community of curious, creative and confident students from a broad range of backgrounds.

Our tuition is comprehensive, covering the full cost of attendance. This includes school supplies, field trips, textbooks, yearbooks, and iPads. Items requiring additional fees include uniforms, hot lunch, extended care, and occasional overnight trips.

Tuition Payment Options

A 10% deposit is required annually to secure a student's place. The deposit is due at the time of enrollment or re-enrollment and will be credited toward tuition for the upcoming academic year.

Tuition may be paid using one of four payment plans:

1-Pay (100% due on August 1)
2-Pay (60% on August 1 and 40% on January 1)
7-Pay (Monthly payments August - February)
10-Pay (Monthly payments May - February)

Financial Aid

Mayfield offers need-based financial aid. We commit more than one million dollars in need-based financial aid each year.

The financial aid process and the admissions application process occur at the same time and are independent of one another. The process is confidential. You must complete the financial aid application before you can be considered for financial aid. We encourage all applicants not to wait for notice of acceptance to apply for financial aid. In doing so, the available monies may already be allocated. Financial aid awards are based on a family’s demonstrated financial need, ensuring that support is given where it is needed most.

In the 2025-2026 school year, 22% of our students received financial aid with awards covering between 15-95% of tuition.

How to Apply for Financial Aid

Mayfield Junior School uses an outside firm to process financial aid applications. Families seeking financial aid will file an application through the Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) program. FAST is operated by Independent School Management, an organization that has been working with independent schools in all areas of school management since 1975. An important part of the service that FAST provides ensures that our process for establishing financial need adheres to nationally established standards of best practice.

Please submit all requested information by the stated deadlines. Late or incomplete applications may not be accepted. If considered, late applications will be evaluated with no guarantee of available funds for awards.

A $60 application fee is paid to FAST via credit card in order to submit your completed application.

Uploading Tax Documents

2025 Taxes:

Will be uploaded directly to your application from the IRS.

2026 Taxes:

Once you have submitted your application, you will have access to Upload My Documents.
The accepted file types for tax documents are PDF, JPEG, PNG, GIF and TIFF.
Use 8 ½ x 11 size paper to scan and upload your documents.
Scan each document separately, rather than all your documents in one large batch. For example, if you have federal tax returns, state tax returns and a Form W-2, you would have three separate documents to scan.

If we require additional tax documentation:

You may receive requests to upload further documentation if not all necessary documents were submitted.
To avoid delays in processing your application, ensure you promptly respond to these requests by uploading the necessary additional documentation.

Timely submission of any additional documents is crucial to ensure that your application is reviewed and processed without unnecessary delays. Always check your email and application portal for updates and follow any instructions provided.

After Completing a FAST Application

Based on the information you submit; FAST provides Mayfield with an estimated amount your family can contribute toward educational expenses. The FAST analysis of a family's estimated contribution is just one component of our financial aid deliberations and is not a guarantee of an award amount. To make our final financial aid award decisions, we use the FAST figures as the baseline for our own additional review, taking into consideration our total financial aid budget, other information we may have collected, our school’s policies and priorities, and the needs of our entire applicant pool.

The request for financial aid for new students is separate from the admissions process and does not affect one’s application for admission to the school.

Financial aid awards are need based and made for one year only. Parents are required to complete a financial aid application each year for which they are seeking support.

In the case of divorced or separated parents, the school considers the assets of both parents. Both parents are expected to submit all financial aid forms. The school cannot be bound by the assertion that one parent has disclaimed responsibility for educational expenses. If either parent has remarried, the school also considers the assets of the stepparent, bearing in mind the obligation of that stepparent to his or her other children.

Financial Aid FAQs

What factors are considered?

Mayfield Junior School follows the best practices of the National Association of Independent Schools for Financial Aid. Mayfield’s financial aid awards are strictly need-based. No awards are given for academic merit or special talents. Although family income is an important consideration, many factors enter the decision-making process, such as the number of children in the family, number of children attending schools for which tuition is paid, other family dependents, assets (including housing), liabilities and unusual expenses. The school will gain an understanding of these special considerations from the information you provide.

To what extent will I be expected to use my own resources?

We begin the review of each family’s financial circumstances with the assumption that family resources will be used to the maximum extent possible. We anticipate that this will involve some degree of sacrifice. We ask that you give careful thought to the maximum amount of tuition that you can reasonably pay and apply for that which cannot realistically be paid from your own resources or those of your extended family.

What if I do not qualify for sufficient financial assistance?

Will my application for financial assistance affect my child’s chances for admission?

Will my records be confidential?

What if I am separated or divorced?

If you are divorced or separated, each parent needs to file a separate but linked application. All information provided will remain private and will not be seen by the other parent. While recognizing that divorce can create challenging situations, it is expected that the resources of both parents will be committed to the Mayfield education. Unique or unusual circumstances may be considered.
