Welcome to Book Fair 2019!
This year’s theme is Peace, Love and Books, a celebration of the healing powers of reading, and how the love of it unites us all. We will be celebrating Book Fair in the Hayden Family Performing Arts Center. Our Grand Opening day begins on Thursday, November 14 and Book Fair will conclude Tuesday, November 19.
We are thrilled to announce that we have two far out visiting authors lined up for all ages this year. First, on November 12, we will be welcoming back Karina Yan Glaser, a Mayfield Junior School Alumna – Class of 1994. Now a New York Times bestselling author, Karina will be discussing her series, The Vanderbeekers with readers, grades 3-8.
The next day, November 13, children's literature legend, Mac Barnett will visit readers, grades K-5. His works include the Caldecott Honor picture books, Extra Yarn, and Sam and Dave Dig a Hole, and the laughout-loud hilarious chapter book series, Mac B., Kid Spy.
Mark your calendar for the 10th Annual Parents' Book Brunch, on Thursday, November 14, 8:15 to 10:00am. Librarians, Tatiana Guyer and Beth Stavros will share their favorite books of 2019 for K-8. Come enjoy a morning of books, friendship and laughter! This event is free.
Book Fair welcomes the MJS Community to the 8th Annual Family Night on Friday, November 15. Families will find themselves in a flower-filled festival. There are many activities planned for the evening, including book shopping; complimentary gift-wrapping, courtesy of Girl Scout Troup 5961; a student-led musical production; and an array of dinner, drinks and dessert! This event is free, and only requires your family’s RSVP.
