  • Forward On Campus Update | April 12, 2021

    We have been made aware of new changes from the state and local authorities that will allow the 7th-8th students to be on campus at 100% capacity.  Some of the adjustments that were made and adopted by state and local authorities include: 3’ distance between persons (4’ between desks) and, an entire grade level may be considered one cohort.  We will begin bringing students back early next week.
    Student schedules will remain the same for the remainder of the year, including the early dismissal on Friday afternoons.

  • Head of School Update | February 18, 2021

    We are excited to announce we plan to welcome our Third and Fourth Grade students, whose families chose Forward On Campus for Session 2, back to campus for in-person instruction beginning on Monday, March 8 for Third Grade and Tuesday, March 9 for Fourth Grade. In order to gradually re-introduce a lot more students for in-person learning on campus, we will aim to bring our Fifth and Sixth Grades back for in-person learning to join our Kindergarten through Fourth Grades beginning March 15 for Grade 5 and March 16 for Grade 6.

    The Pasadena and Los Angeles Health departments have recommended for schools to delay re-introducing on-campus learning until February 2021 at the earliest. We will honor this recommendation and remain fully in Forward Remote at this time.

  • Head of School Update: October 20, 2020

    Thank you for filling out the required school reopening on-campus surveys from last week. As I previously wrote, these were questions that were mandated by the city, county, and state for us to provide them with data about our school. As a reminder, at this moment, we are targeting the City of Pasadena Public Health Department’s limited in-person services provision which allows schools to offer in-person learning for up to 10% of our student population for students with the “highest need.”

    As we move into October and the fall months, a lot of the traditions of a typical MJS school year are starting to take place. I’ve been in recent meetings and discussions regarding campus Christmas decorating, the start of School Families this Friday, and our creative and dedicated 8th graders are putting together an amazing Harvest Festival plan. It’s still lonely and quiet here, but we are edging closer to having our students gradually back on campus
