The MJS Family Legacy Award
The Schlueter - Jones Family

The Schlueter – Jones Family has a long tradition of commitment to Mayfield Junior School and Holy Child education. For 68 years the Schlueter-Jones family has been represented on the Mayfield campus. As students, parents of students and grandparents of students this family has served in a myriad of volunteer roles. From Parents’ Association, Alumni Association, Board of Trustees as well as volunteer committees the Schlueter –Jones family actively keeps Mayfield in their lives and serves the community in many positive ways.

Chris Kirby '90

As a member of the Pasadena Police Department, Chris serves his community in many visible and invisible ways. This commitment to community and serving others is a hallmark of a Mayfield Holy Child education and these values were instilled in Chris from the beginning. Following in his father’s footsteps, Chris was drawn to service in the Police Department. Throughout his career Chris has strengthened his community and demonstrated the Holy Child spirit.

Faculty Emeritus Recipients

John Higgins

Inspiring students and colleagues, John was an admired leader during his tenure at MJS. Beginning his career as an English teacher and PE Coach John embraced the Holy Child philosophy and in time increased his responsibilities to become Head of Mayfield’s Upper School. John’s wisdom and integrity has imparted a lasting legacy at MJS.

Lucy Malarkey, SHCJ

Sr. Lucy’s name was synonymous with science and exploration at Mayfield. During her 12 years at Mayfield, she brought character to the campus and encouraged wonder and discovery in her students. She served on Mayfield Junior School’s Board of Trustees three times offering wise insight and guidance and a deep historical and personal commitment to the school’s past and its future. She was beloved by faculty and students alike, and set a foundation for excellence.

Sr. Lucy Malarkey, SHCJ passed away on December 1, 2017. This title is presented posthumously in memory of her passion for teaching and love for Mayfield.
