Contractual Agreement For Flag Football

Teams: Teams will be selected by a coach or a teacher on duty. Students are not allowed to pick teams. There are no team captains. Everyone is allowed to play and no one will be left out. If a player chooses to leave a team during the game, that player may not come back to the game, (there is no switching team).

Flags: A flag must be worn during play and over your shirt. It is not permitted to tie a flag around your waist. A clip must be used. If a flag comes off while the player is running with the ball, the play is over. If a player is running with the ball and goes to one knee, the play is over.

Flag Guarding: You may not use any part of your body, hands or the ball to guard your flag. Holding on to the flag while running with the ball is not permitted.

Positions: Everyone will have a chance to play different positions if he/she chooses too.

Kick-off: Students may punt the ball on kick-offs. There are no fake punts or on-side kick, and there are no field goals or extra points. You need to catch the ball in the air during a kickoff in order to advance the ball. Once the ball hits the ground, it’s a dead ball.

Scoring: Each touchdown counts as 6 points.

Blocking: There is no Blocking.

Downs: There is only one first down, which placed at midfield. Afterwards, you have to score a touchdown or the other team will get the ball.

Fumbles: There is no stripping. There are no fumbles. If a player loses control of a ball while running, the play is over.

Injury: If an injury occurs during a play, that play is dead, and you may replay the down.

Sportsmanship: If players are not exhibiting fair play, a coach or a teacher on duty may choose to terminate the game at that point. Trash talking is not permitted under any circumstances. If a player is overly aggressive, he is given a warning. If the behavior continues, the player will be ejected. Arguing with a coach or a teacher over a penalty could result in ejection.

Ejection: If a player is ejected from the game they may not play the following recess. The ejected player is not permitted on the field during the remainder of the game and the following recess.

The following acts of misconduct will result in ejection and more serious consequences; Violent conduct, spitting or biting, offensive, cursing, insulting or abusive language or gestures..

Unnecessary Roughness: There is no tackling at any time. There is no pushing from the back. Charging using your knees and elbows are not permitted. If you receive two personal foul penalties in one game, you will be asked to leave for the remainder of the game AND the next upcoming game.

Defensive Rules: The defense may only have one rusher. The player must count 3 Alabama’s before rushing the QB. Once the ball is pitched in the backfield, the defense may come across. If the QB is going to pass the ball, the defensive player that is rushing the QB cannot jump or block the pass. The rusher must pull the QB’s flag. A defensive play cannot pass the line of scrimmage before the ball is hiked.

Offensive Rules: The QB cannot run. The ball has to be pitched to an offensive player. There are no handoffs. After a player crosses the line of scrimmage, that player is not allowed to pass or pitch the ball forward. They can then only pass or the pitch the ball backwards. If a player catches a ball without having a flag on, it is an incomplete pass.

Penalty: If an offensive player moves before the ball is hiked, it is false start (5 yd. penalty). If a defensive player crosses the line of scrimmage before the ball is hiked, it is considered offside (5 yd. penalty).
Time-outs: Each team is allowed one time-out per game.

End of Games: Once the bell rings, the play is dead and the game is over. All players must help put all the equipment way. Each player is expected to congratulate the other players before heading class.
