Developing Characters with Voice and Movement
The second semester of fifth grade drama was a bit more challenging this year. Drama teacher, Lisa Byrne found the perfect project to encourage the many talents within this confident class – a musical! With minimal sets and costumes, students used their bodies, voices and imagination to bring the story of Simba and the characters of Pride Rock to life in The Lion King Kids.
It was an exciting project! Students had the opportunity to sew costumes from a pattern, meet with Terron Brooks (Simba on Broadway and at the Pantages), and work together as an ensemble using theatrical storytelling techniques.
