Celebrating the Class of 2017

The Mayfield Junior School community said its farewells, final accolades and best wishes to the 63 members of the Class of 2017 on Friday, June 2. The traditional ceremony highlighted the achievements and talents of the class with major awards, a choral presentation from “Shrek, Jr” and sage advice from several speakers including Headmaster Joe Gill, MJS Alumna Perry Hotchkis ’12, Student Body President Hayes Sullivan, and Mayfield parent, Ed Richmond.

Each year graduation is a very joyful event for many reasons – the excitement of the day, the promise of the future, the coming of age and the culmination for many of nine years growing up together. Friendships made, experiences shared, whether nine years or two, it feels significant to watch these graduates leave childhood and become accomplished and strong young men and women.

In his remarks, Headmaster Joe Gill reminded the class “…your Holy Child education is far more than the academic lessons of the classroom and experiences of the co-curricular programs. It is also a chance for you to accept into your heart and mind, that the teachings of a loving God are the foundation of our lives.”

The Class of 2017 will be attending excellent secondary schools including Loyola High School, Mayfield Senior School, St. Francis High School, Polytechnic School, Flintridge Prep, Flintridge Sacred Heart, Thacher School, and Salisbury School.
