Is that a T-Rex Behind You? Virtual Exploration with Google
The D-Lab and Elementary Technology Lab had a little extra excitement for a day as Google Expeditions came to campus with their latest educational augmented reality technology. The pioneer program uses smart phones on selfie sticks and maps classrooms with hot spots that bring immersive, virtual journeys to the screens. Students had a great time traveling to ancient Rome, interacting with tornadoes and volcanoes, hanging with dinosaurs, getting up close and personal with DNA and floating through the solar system. Experiencing the future technology provided insight for teachers for using Virtual Reality technology in interactive lesson plans and students were given the opportunity to comment and make suggestions on improvements and enhancements.
