Traditions Spotlight: Blue and White Day

A springtime ritual, one day in May reserved for a little good-natured competition - Blue and White Day is a long-time Mayfield tradition. Since the 1940s, Mayfield students have divided up into teams representing the school colors (back then it was brown and white) and competed in everything from calisthenics and precision marching to badminton and ping-pong, with incredible school spirit. Today Blue and White Day is organized by the eighth-grade class and remains a student favorite. With free dress (blue or white of course), a pancake breakfast lovingly prepared and served by parent volunteers, crazy games, music, tug-o-wars, having fun with your friends, no classes…what’s not to love?
