Dear Mayfield Junior School community,

 

Last night we were notified that our Sixth Grade community was exposed to a positive COVID-19 case on Monday, December 6. Following established protocols by the Pasadena Public Health Department, unvaccinated Sixth Grade students are quarantining at home and will shift to remote instruction. Siblings of Sixth Graders can continue to come to school, as only those who have been in close contact to the positive case must quarantine. Unvaccinated students who have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 90 days do not need to quarantine.

 

Per Pasadena’s COVID-19 protocols, unvaccinated students who have been exposed to a positive case can end their quarantine after seven days if they receive a negative PCR test result for a test taken on day six from the date of last exposure. The return date for the unvaccinated students is December 14 for those who get a negative PCR test and December 17 for those who opt not to test.

 

All faculty and staff members who may be close contacts to the positive case have been contacted at this time. Fully vaccinated faculty and staff who may have been exposed do not need to quarantine if asymptomatic and may continue to work on campus with their assigned schedules.

 

Mayfield is communicating with health officials and following state and local guidelines. We are following all COVID-19 cleaning and disinfection protocols.
