Expand your love of writing this summer to include the wonderful world of nature. As a nature journalist you will record observations of nature in writing and in sketching. This course begins with easy iron-on T-shirt designing, and then moves to more inventive T-shirt coloring and advanced designing using freezer paper, stencils, and bleach water solutions. Students will be given 3 plain shirts to design and take home but are welcome to bring spare tees from their closet for extra design opportunities! In this fun course students will learn about the Ukulele instrument and discover the ever-popular percussion instrument, the drum. With ukulele learning, students will begin to learn how to play chords and master a variety of songs in this fun course!

Using a wide variety of LEGO™ bricks and specialty pieces, we'll build huge spinning Merry-Go-Rounds, Mega Ferris Wheels, Water Slides, Drop Towers, and everything in between as we design giant Amusement Parks! Once our Parks are complete, we'll use wheels, bands, gears, pulleys, and more as we start to design our own MEGA Machine creations! Scrapbooking is fun…! Join us as students learn the art of scrapbooking in this creative course! Each day, students will work on a different theme for a page in the student’s scrapbook. A writers’ summer workshop designed to deepen narrative skills in memoir writing. This workshop is designed for the emerging 9 - 11-year-old writer. Students will focus on writing about the people, things, places, and ideas that are meaningful to their lives through the use of writing and illustrations. This workshop is ideal for continued development in the use of the 6+1 Traits of Writing (i.e., Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, Conventions and Presentation) and increasing applicable writing skills through the writing process (i.e., pre-writing, drafting, revising, rewriting, and publishing). Students will personalize and keep a writing journal and participate in a public reading of their writing at the end of the workshop.

1st Period | Egghead Engineering: Ancient Wonders + Super Structures
Strap in, because this session the Egghead Engineering team is hopping in the time machine and going back in ancient history to build huge engineering marvels! Using LEGOs, students will build awesome ancient creations like aqueducts, dams, wells, and giant coliseums. Then, we'll test them with the crush test, the weight test, and all our other tests to make sure they can stand up to the challenge!
A writers’ summer workshop designed to deepen narrative skills in memoir writing. This workshop is designed for the emerging 9 - 11-year-old writer. Students will focus on writing about the people, things, places, and ideas that are meaningful to their lives through the use of writing and illustrations. This workshop is ideal for continued development in the use of the 6+1 Traits of Writing (i.e., Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, Conventions and Presentation) and increasing applicable writing skills through the writing process (i.e., pre-writing, drafting, revising, rewriting, and publishing). Students will personalize and keep a writing journal and participate in a public reading of their writing at the end of the workshop.
Have you ever wanted to explore the exciting world of 3-D printing? This course offers the opportunity for students to gain the skills and knowledge needed to design in a 3-D environment, run digital simulations, and print creations of their own design. Students will learn the workings of a 3-D printer and will encounter limitless possibilities a 3-D printer offers in the technology lab environment.
Do you enjoy doing projects in a design lab? In this course, we will look at some of the newest things going on in robotics and engineering and explore how we can tinker and design on our own to become future engineers and designers. Some of the project highlights include creating and your very own marble run, customizing and coding Sphero robotics, and using the laser cutter to design our dream house!

Minecraft Creatives will build their own virtual city! Students will design a community, make homes, startup industries, fly and roam around, and be creative in different Minecraft spaces. Creatives have infinite resources and are invulnerable to damage, working independently and as a team. Every morning will begin with a Minecraft skill challenge. All skill levels are welcome, so join Creatives for four weeks of collaborative exploration!
Expand your love of writing this summer to include the wonderful world of nature. As a nature journalist you will record observations of nature in writing and in sketching. Your nature journal might include sketches of animals and insects, pressed flowers, notes copied from a book, nature-inspired poetry, or photographs. Come and expand your Writer's Heart with art!
A field trip to a local garden may be planned for this course.
This course begins with easy iron-on T-shirt designing, and then moves to more inventive T-shirt coloring and advanced designing using freezer paper, stencils, and bleach water solutions. Students will be given 3 plain shirts to design and take home but are welcome to bring spare tees from their closet for extra design opportunities! Students will also have the chance to design some accessories as part of this fun course!
An Introduction to this course is designed to help students feel more comfortable and confident as they enter Fifth Grade Math. It will give each child the opportunity to learn new concepts and reinforce Fourth Grade skills. Occasional math videos and games will add variety and fun!
Through fencing, students can integrate their minds and bodies. As a result, students who fence gain balance, sharpen reflexes, and improve hand-eye coordination, confidence, and self-esteem. Children will learn several footwork techniques, rules, safety, and play a variety of games allowing them to incorporate their newly acquired skills.
Note: foils (swords) have rubber tips to ensure safety.
Learn and play tennis through fundamentals’ games and child-friendly activities. Students of all levels will find this course challenging and fun, as TennisKids encourages and respects all children’s natural and psychological development.
*Closed-toed shoes required. No open-toed shoes or sandals allowed. Students may bring close-toed shoes to class and change into them.
Get up and move! Students will move their bodies and experience different cultures, histories of dance and fun moves. Students will learn routines from Lyrical Ballet, Jazz, Tap, African, Square Dance, Folk Dance and Step/ Stomp dance, studying one dance each week with a showcase of different dance styles in routines at the end of the summer program.

Survive the night to see the day! Minecraft Survivors will mine resources, manage food (find, farm, and cook), craft tables and tools, dig underground, secure shelter, build armor, and battle mobs. Survivors will dodge zombie pigs, spiders, skeletons, creepers, and lava as they navigate the Nether, working independently and as a team. All skill levels are welcome, so survive and thrive for four weeks of summer!

3rd Period | Reading, Writing and Grammar...Oh My!
This course is designed to include a refresher of the basic parts of speech and grammar, strengthening reading comprehension skills through various short stories and nonfiction articles, and developing proper writing skills. Bring your favorite book and a creative mind!
Studies have shown that students who learn chess demonstrate a marked development in verbal and math aptitudes. In this class students will be taught the game of chess based on their level of play and receive professional feedback and instruction. Explore different tactics, compete, and improve chess skills here!

Be the star of your own video! Mega Movie Makers will learn how to plan, storyboard and write. They will research ideas for short format videos that they will compose, edit, and share using iPad apps. Their projects will be commercials, trailers, and social media videos in the style of Tik-Tok, Instagram Reels and Stories, and SnapChat. Mega Movie Makers will enjoy a Red-Carpet Screening of their work AND have a digital keepsake of their Mega Movies at the end of the session!
This course aims to improve upon a student’s athletic ability for virtually all sports. The key to success in sports is having a solid athletic foundation. The course will focus on developing skills in the following areas:
Agility/Balance/Hand & Foot Eye Coordination/Speed/Strength/ and Smoothness
Students will be evaluated to determine their individual strengths, and they will be given various exercises to help develop a more solid athletic foundation or improve their abilities if they have already had some athletic experience.
Students will engage in various games to help them develop as well.

Design and tinker in Laser Cutting! Students will create, cut, and engrave on the Epilog Zing laser cutter, using materials such as plywood, balsa, cardboard, acrylic, metal, etc. Students will learn the cycle of design, prototype, test and redesign as budding artists and engineers. They will craft take-home projects such as bookmarks, coasters, caddies, name plaques, and more! Students will use various art supplies to bring their laser cutting creations to life!
This class will introduce children to various art mediums and techniques while encouraging creativity and self-expression. Students will learn to depict images, animals, landscapes and abstractions while learning about and gaining inspiration from various famous artists. Using oil pastels, pencils, watercolors, tempera paints, and collage, students will have the ability to explore different mediums and discover their artistic abilities and strengths.
Sing! Dance! Act! Play! Students will rehearse and perform a short Musical Theater production piece in this fun class! This course is geared toward students who like to sing and dance in a fun, performance-based environment!

6th Period | Egghead Engineering: Amusement Parks + Mega Machines
Step into the gates, strap on your seatbelt, and come join the Egghead Amusement Park Engineering Team! Each class, Eggheads will try to pass a new LEGO™ engineering challenge by designing, building, and then testing crazy rides and attractions. Using a wide variety of LEGO™ bricks and specialty pieces, we'll build huge spinning Merry-Go-Rounds, Mega Ferris Wheels, Water Slides, Drop Towers, and everything in between as we design giant Amusement Parks! Once our Parks are complete, we'll use wheels, bands, gears, pulleys, and more as we start to design our own MEGA Machine creations! From spinning Windmills to operable Cranes, no challenge is too large for the Egghead Engineering team to conquer!
Scrapbooking is fun…! Join us as students learn the art of scrapbooking in this creative course! Each day, students will work on a different theme for a page in the student’s scrapbook. This course will inspire students to think outside of the box and each class will allow students to express their own creativity through scrapbooking. At the end of the course, students will have a scrapbook filled with summer memories they can always look back on from Summer 2024!
Founded by ex-NBA and youth Euro league Champion, Yaroslav Koralev, Young Kings Basketball is a very experienced and thought-out program that focuses on developing basketball skills for students at a very young age. This basketball program is designed to help every young player become versatile and valuable in every position on the court. The goal is to improve fundamental basketball skills of every student, no matter of their size and athletic ability.
A snack will be provided to all students enrolled in 6th Period activities.
This class will teach crocheting, knitting, and weaving basics. Students will create a weaving project and a variety of finger knitting, finger crocheting, and crocheting projects. After learning the different techniques, students will have the opportunity to create projects using the method (or methods) of their choice.
