First Grade American Symbols Project

First graders each chose one important American symbol to research and practice drawing using YouTube videos for guidance. Using what they learned, they designed tools in the D-Lab to take on a trip to visit their chosen American Symbol. From binoculars to see the Statue of Liberty to canoes for getting close to Bald Eagles, students used their knowledge to be creative.

Next, with the help of 8th graders, students wrote interview questions based on their research and created videos pretending to be reporters. Using the Green Screen app by DoInk, the 8th graders and first graders were able to 'visit' the American Symbol.

This group chose to visit the Bald Eagle. Watch to learn some facts about our national bird!
