Actions not Words
Sometimes the best way to start your day is by thinking about others and gathering as a community – even if by live stream or video.
The tradition of Morning Prayer at Mayfield Junior School is perhaps more important now than it has ever been. Typically held in a courtyard on campus, the gathering is led by student council with a presentation each week by an individual homeroom or advisory. Each day it is a celebration of our lively, close-knit community. We laugh together, cheer and bless each other. We pray for the world.
Although gatherings are not possible now, Head of School Joe Sciuto brings the celebration that is Morning Prayer to us via Facebook Live, while our teachers and students are home engaging in distance learning. Through the familiar Pledge of Allegiance, announcements, prayer and quote of the day, these few moments each morning with a caring face and calm voice connect us, ground us and support us. We can reach across space and screens as one heart and one mind - still laughing together, cheering and blessing each other. And most definitely still praying for the world.
