It's Going to Be a Great Year

The excitement that naturally comes with the beginning of a new school year is something to cherish. As a community, we celebrate our joyful spirit, our collective mission and our readiness to focus on the opportunities that await our students.

At Mayfield, the start of the school year has much tradition attached to it. A first-day coffee provides an informal gathering for parents, the Opening Mass officially welcomes families new to our school, and the Mass of the Holy Spirit which has been held every year since our founding is a joyous occasion with the formal installation and blessing of our student council.

In his first letter of the year, Headmaster Joe Gill expressed how the new year brings optimism and hope. He thanked parents for their partnership in the important job of providing the best experience for the children and renewed his commitment to supporting Every Child – Every Day, “This simple phrase is a reminder to each of us, in the midst of all that’s going on, that our collective and individual attention must rest on the needs of every child in our care.”

In this atmosphere of support and tradition there is still much to accomplish and improvements and progress continue. Innovation in teaching and learning is a priority, the search for the new Head of School will soon be completed, and as the weeks pass our new Holy Child Chapel will begin to take shape adding a spiritual focal point to the campus. Together, as One Mayfield, our community will confidently move forward building on the best to be even better.

And so we begin – with a new series of firsts and a few lasts. We look forward to KPals, School Families, the Harvest Festival, high school applications, field trips, art projects, stage plays, D-Lab projects, musical concerts, experiments and competitions. We also look forward to helping others, strengthening friendships, taking risks, thinking creatively, trying new things and embracing the opportunity in every experience.

It’s going to be a great year.
