    Two sessions available: 8:30 a.m. or 5 p.m. | Register
    Hayden Performing Arts Center (HPAC)

Led by Independent School Expert and Diversity Practitioner, Ralinda Watts

As a tight-knit school community, we at Mayfield are proud of our collective strength, openness, and ability to learn and grow together. It’s who we are and rooted in our Mission. However, we recognize that hurtful words and harmful language are inevitable in any community. How we at Mayfield respond to these situations reflects our care and commitment to our students and families. As a Holy Child school, we hold dear and deeply value creating a welcoming and loving community for all.

Mayfield is blessed to partner with Ralinda Watts, an Independent School Expert and Diversity Practitioner. During the summer, Ralinda shared with Mayfield faculty and staff more strategies to recognize and address harmful language and racist words in the classroom and on campus, and her work continues.

On October 10, these two Parent Education sessions are specifically designed to continue the strong school-family partnership we have at Mayfield. We invite you to join us for these important workshops, where we can connect, share experiences, and learn specific strategies to transform harmful language into a culture of belonging. Together, we can continue to strengthen our Mayfield community.

Ralinda Watts is an author, educational consultant, speaker, and thought leader at the intersection of culture, belonging, identity, and justice. With extensive experience as a practitioner, educator, and researcher of K-12 curricula and programs, she has developed numerous initiatives and frameworks. Ralinda has consulted in education, media, and entertainment, and is the founder of RalindaSpeaks, a DEIJ consulting platform and podcast. She holds an M.Ed from Columbia University.
