This class is designed for students who will be entering Kindergarten in Fall 2026.
Course description
This engaging summer program is designed for children entering Kindergarten in Fall 2025, providing a supportive and fun introduction to the exciting world of "Big School." Through a developmental approach, students will build confidence as they explore creative and language arts, strengthen gross and fine motor skills, enhance social interactions, and engage in imaginative play. Additionally, hands-on experiences with robotics introduce foundational problem-solving and critical thinking skills that pair well with learning about numbers, in this course. With interactive activities and a nurturing environment, the program may help ensure a smooth and joyful transition to Kindergarten.

Prerequisite:
Must be Age 4 years 9 mos. or older and entering a Kindergarten Program in Fall 2026.

Afternoon Cruise

Course description
This two-period course will fill your students with laughter, fun, and joy as kindergarten students go on an Afternoon Cruise! Students can bask in an afternoon of storytelling, outdoor play, artwork, music, movement, cooking, and lots more. Our captains of creativity will provide children with a daily dose of imagination and adventure in this afternoon course. This well-rounded curriculum, led by experienced early childhood educators, helps ensure a smooth and joyful transition to Kindergarten.

As a bonus this year, Kindergarten music lessons will be included for students enrolled in this course.

Kindergarteners enrolled in both kindergarten courses are supervised during lunch before transitioning to the Afternoon Cruise Course each afternoon.

Get ready for a storytelling adventure! In this lively and creative course, students will dream up original tales and learn how to bring them to life on the page and stage. Golf with XIMU at Mayfield Junior School is for both new and continuing students. Ukuleles and Drums

Course Description
Drumming is fun…drumming with others is even better! We play on buckets, African djembes and bass drums and always stay in tune with each other. We create rhythms with shakers, frame drums, triangles, wood blocks, pots, and other noisy toys. We will dance, sing, and make our own instruments. Students will also learn about the ukulele and begin to play this fun instrument! Students will begin to learn how to play chords and master a variety of songs in this fun course!

This class will teach the basics of crocheting, knitting, and weaving while incorporating inspiration from the natural world. Students will create weaving projects and a variety of finger knitting, finger crocheting, and crocheting projects using materials, colors, and textures inspired by nature. After learning the different techniques, students will have the opportunity to design projects that reflect elements of the outdoors, like leaves, flowers, trees, or animals. This class combines creativity, hands-on craft skills, and a connection to the beauty of the natural world.

Pack your imagination and get ready for an adventure! In this exciting course, students will “travel” to a new country each week, exploring its unique culture, traditions, and way of life. From tasting local treats to creating culturally inspired crafts, every session offers a fun, immersive journey that brings the world to life. No passport required!

Athletic Development

Course Description
This course aims to improve a student’s athletic ability for virtually all sports. The key to success in sports is having a solid athletic foundation. The course will focus on developing skills in the following areas: Agility/Balance/Hand & Foot Eye Coordination/Speed/Strength/ and Smoothness

Students will be evaluated to determine their individual strengths, and they will be given various exercises to help develop a more solid athletic foundation or improve their abilities if they have already had some athletic experience. Students will engage in various games to help them develop as well.

Camp Craft

Course Description
Start each day with a splash of creativity! In this hands-on course, students will explore a variety of artistic crafts, including painting, working with clay, and other fun creative projects. Young artists will experiment with different painting techniques, textures, and mediums to bring their masterpieces to life. In clay sessions, students will learn to mold, shape, and sculpt objects using their hands, discovering the joy of turning imagination into three-dimensional art. Additional craft activities may include collage, mixed media, and creative paper projects, allowing students to express their ideas in multiple ways. The course concludes with a culminating project, showcasing each student’s unique creativity and accomplishments from the session.

In this fun movement and rhythm class, we dance, we play, and we create rhythms. We dance to our favorite music, become fit with aerobic workouts, learn routines, and tone our bodies with yoga. Course Description
In this hands-on summer program, students will explore the exciting world of filmmaking while developing a collaborative and creative community. This course emphasizes personal growth, creative expression, and teamwork, allowing students to capture their unique perspectives and passions in every project. The program features a multi-level module system, guiding students through essential filmmaking techniques including basic camera shots, three-point lighting, the 180-degree rule, basic editing, stop-motion animation, and green screen effects. Students will also work in groups to create their own personalized films that will be premiered for friends and family at the end of the program.

Students will also have the chance to design some accessories as part of this fun course!
