38th Annual Maureen Shea Memorial Tennis Tournament
Family, fun, and friendly competition that’s what the Shea family wanted to celebrate when they established the Maureen Shea Memorial Tennis Tournament 38 years ago. With their generous support, Mayfield Junior School has faithfully continued the annual event, which has become a beloved tradition among current and alumni families alike.

About Maureen Shea
Maureen Shea graduated from Mayfield Junior School in 1982. She was a member of the tennis teams at both Mayfield Junior and Senior Schools. Her life ended suddenly in an automobile accident in 1985. Coming from a large and caring family, we thought it would be appropriate to have a family tennis tournament as a loving tribute to Maureen. The names of the winners will be inscribed on the perpetual trophy donated by her family.
Jon Wood
Jon Wood recently retired after 40 years as the MJS tennis coach and has also been a dedicated Tournament Director of the MJS Maureen Shea Memorial Tennis Tournament since its inception in 1988. Together with his family, he has helped manage all details of the tournament from securing court locations, managing player entries, creating tournament brackets, and officiating the student finals match. This year, we honor the Jon Wood Family for their many years of service and dedication to the Tournament.
