7th Graders Train as Junior Docents at Huntington Library

Late this summer eight Mayfield 7th graders began training as junior docents for the Huntington Library’s new exhibit “Junipero Serra and the Legacies of the California Missions.” This is the first junior docent program at the Huntington Library and Mayfield is proud to be a part of it. Three training sessions included a personal tour of the exhibit with Steven Hackel, one of the curators and author of a new Serra biography, and touring techniques. Now having earned their official docent badges, the students will lead three groups through the exhibit this fall beginning with their 7th grade classmates on September 11 followed by two 4th grade tours in October.
