Where did you work?
This summer I worked at Pedram Law, a personal injury law firm located in Beverly Hills.
What were your primary responsibilities or projects you worked on?
I assisted case managers by requesting medical records and billing, organized medical providers to streamline the demand writing process, researched liability insurance limits for rideshare apps, and contributed to the firm’s marketing by filming an advertisement.
What was the overall work environment and company culture?
The environment of the firm was formal yet supportive. I worked from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday through Thursday and was required to wear business attire.
Did your summer internship align with your college major?
To my surprise my major did align with my summer job. Many of the courses pertaining to my major focus heavily on our current healthcare system. Going into my summer internship, I already had some background knowledge of how health insurance companies operate and how coverage works.
What did you find the most enjoyable or most interesting part of your job?
I really enjoyed utilizing my research skills in order to find information that wasn’t as obvious. For example, when gathering information for my liability insurance project I had to think outside the box in order to find information as many rideshare apps do not publicly disclose their exact liability limits.
Was there a skill you learned at Mayfield that helped you do your job better?
During my time at Mayfield, we were taught how to communicate effectively when working with others. I think this skill definitely helped me throughout my time at Pedram Law.
What new skills or knowledge did you acquire during your internship?
This summer, I learned how to analyze medical reports, billing documents, and learned how to write a demand.
What accomplishments are you most proud of from your internship?
I am most proud of the work I conducted in order to complete my liability insurance project.
Did your internship change your thoughts or influence your future career path?
Yes. It confirmed my interest in pursuing a career in law.
How did your summer internship contribute to your personal growth or self-
confidence?
Overall, I think that this internship taught me the importance of taking initiative. This internship taught me to rely on my own resourcefulness which in turn increased my self-confidence.
